Beyond the Field
As a professional Athlete, it's a pleasure, an honor, and serve the community I am living in. I'm known for aggressively pitching in the zone and being level-headed on and of the field. Outside of work I consider myself a soft-spoken person. While I absolutely love training for baseball as my career, I like to think of myself as more than just an athlete. I’m working hard to be a positive role model to the younger ballplayers.

My hobbies are reflected in this website as much as I am able to. Fishing is a big part of my brand, a couple years ago I started "Swirvin Limited", a fishing brand building custom rods and clothing. I still am pursuing a passion in building rods and expect them to be on the website next year. I thoroughly love the outdoors, and enjoy exploring with my fiance when our seasons allow it.
In terms of baseball, there are many accolades on to my name. I was an Under Armor All-American, World Wood Bat Association Champion, and Pitcher of the Tournament with the Virginia Canes. The proudest moment of my high school years besides committing to the University of Oregon, was representing Team USA, in the Pan-American Games winning Gold. In college, I was a freshman all-American and broke the single season wins record in my first season as a Duck. After having tommy john surgery in 2014, going into my sophomore season, I returned one year later and the team found a way to make consecutive regional appearances. My red shirt junior season was the year I was drafted.

June 2016, I was drafted in the 5th round and graduated in the same weekend. As a Phillie, I've pitched in the High-A all-star game, and started the AAA all-star game. Pitcher of the week and Pitcher of the year in 2018 in AAA. Made my Major League Debut on May 12, 2019 as a starter going 7 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 run, and 5 strikeouts. This big league journey has had its ups and downs but will continue to be a memory that lasts a lifetime. Each day is excited and a new start to get better.

One thing I will leave you with is this. A coach once told me to STAY BALANCED, and he was not referring to baseball. In life we have challenges awaiting us everyday, and the better we do a keeping our life needle in the middle, the more enjoyment in we will have and spread to those around us. Meaning, never get too high or too low. Balance is the key to baseball but also in life.
